Norfolk House

Sheringham, UK
2020  – under construction

The project comprises the full refurbishment of an existing detached house. The proposed works includes extending the property towards the rear garden to provide a new kitchen and an enlarged sitting and dining area. The building is designed as a passive house and explores environmental systems like MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) and rainwater harvesting system and uses solar energy.

The ground floor layout allows the living area to be more efficient and unifies the living spaces to create an open‐plan space. Full height doors allow the living spaces to open to the garden, connecting inside and out. The main living areas will be fully glazed, achieving maximum transparency and panoramic views over the fields. The first floor of the property where the views become outstanding has also been extended to maximise the floor area and create a master bedroom with an en‐suite bathroom.

The extension’s design explores a modern approach and the use of sustainable materials. We aim to preserve and enhance the character and appearance of the existing building by creating a better quality home with a high quality design that responds to today’s needs.
