Guided by the RIBA Plan of Work, our process follows clear stages that make design exciting, structured, and collaborative.

Listening and Understanding (RIBA Stage 1)

Every project begins with listening. We start by learning about your lifestyle, goals, and ideas for the space.

During this stage, we:

Review practical details like budget, planning, and timing.

We then visit your site in person. Seeing the site helps us understand its orientation, shape, and potential. We study how sunlight moves, where views open up, and how to make the most of every corner. This early understanding sets the direction for the design.

Concept and Exploration (RIBA Stage 2)

Once we understand your brief and site, we begin exploring ideas. This is the most creative part of the process.

We develop different design options, testing how each one might work. Some focus on layout and light, while others explore materials or structure.

Through sketches, physical models, and 3D visuals, we help you see how different design routes might transform your property — or create a striking new build.
By comparing these options, you can make informed choices about how to shape your home or development.

Developing the Design (RIBA Stage 3)

Once a preferred concept is chosen, we refine it further. We focus on proportions, materials, and connections between spaces.

At this stage, we:

Fine-tune daylight, shading, and privacy.
Develop sustainable material options.
Coordinate with engineers and consultants.

We also prepare and submit planning applications. With support from our in-house town planner, we ensure proposals meet local and national policies. This approach strengthens the planning case and reduces risk.

By the end of this stage, the project has a clear identity and strong visual clarity.

Technical Design (RIBA Stage 4)

After planning approval, the focus shifts to technical design. Every junction, wall, and finish is detailed so it can be built precisely and efficiently.

We create detailed drawings, specifications, and schedules. We also work closely with engineers, consultants, and suppliers to ensure performance and durability.

At this point, we help clients gather contractor quotes and compare options, ensuring transparency and value. Each design decision stays true to the original concept while meeting building regulations and cost goals.

Construction and Delivery (RIBA Stage 5)

When construction begins, the design comes to life. We stay involved throughout the process — not just to observe but to guide and collaborate.

We make regular site visits, review progress, and discuss details directly with the builder. This keeps communication clear and ensures high-quality workmanship.

If challenges arise, we respond quickly with practical solutions. Our goal is always the same: to maintain design integrity and achieve the best possible outcome for your space.

Completion and Aftercare (RIBA Stage 6)

When construction finishes, we walk through the project together. We look at every space, check materials, and ensure everything performs as intended.

We also offer advice on maintenance, energy use, and long-term care. We see completion not as the end, but as the beginning of your experience in the space.
