At Studio AVC, we believe in nurturing the designers of tomorrow—so we were thrilled to collaborate on an exciting live project with South Thames College’s Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design learners as part of their Cityscapes curriculum.

The employer-led brief was developed by tutor Susannah Stevens in collaboration with our Director, Ayca Vural-Cutts. Drawing on over 20 years of experience—including roles at world-renowned firms such as Foster + Partners and Zaha Hadid Architects—Ayca challenged students to design and build innovative cardboard structures that integrated biodiversity, wellbeing, and sustainability.

The project encouraged learners to think creatively about how spaces can be inclusive, environmentally responsive, and future-focused. Based in Merton Abbey Mills, Studio AVC has long championed human-scale, sustainable design—making this partnership a natural fit.

We were proud to support the South Thames College Employability Team in delivering a meaningful and inspiring experience. The project culminated in an awards event led by Head of Employability, Scott Sherriff, where six exceptional learners were recognised for their imaginative and thoughtful work.

This collaboration reflects our continued commitment to supporting education, sustainability, and community engagement—and we look forward to more initiatives like this in the future.
