The project comprises the full refurbishment of an existing detached house. The proposed works will include extending the property towards the rear garden to provide an enlarged sitting room, a garage conversion and a loft conversion. In addition to these changes some of the windows in the rear elevation will be replaced.
Our aim is to integrate the new extension with the existing house and its existing extension. We have used full height glass doors to allow the living spaces to open to the garden, connecting inside and out and brick that matches the existing house. We will re-use and recycle bricks where possible.
The existing extension has been built with a blank wall on the rear façade and there are no windows looking towards the garden from the existing living room. We are proposing new sliding glass doors on this blank wall to get daylight and fresh air and to create a visual and physical connection to the garden.
Our proposal also includes a loft conversion, with a dormer extension that is designed to match and enhance the existing building, ensuring that it is not intrusive in the streetscene. The dormer is set back from the front and rear facades to reduce its visibility from the main road and adjacent neighbours.
